Country framing: Browser geolocation and OpenStreetMap Nominatim. After permission, coordinates are rounded to two decimal places and sent directly to Nominatim to identify the country. The result is stored in this browser for 30 days; this site does not store the location.
Method: Nearby detections are grouped by map scale. Circle radius is derived from the detected pixel footprint, Fire Radiative Power (FRP), repeat detections and observed duration, then scaled into the display range configured in the shortcode. It is not a surveyed burn perimeter or burned-area measurement. Dark circles represent earlier detections from 7–10 days ago, not validated burn scars.
Display scale: 1.00 km minimum radius to 50.0 km maximum radius.
Limitations: Thermal anomalies can include vegetation fires, agricultural burning, industrial heat, gas flares or volcanic activity. Clouds, smoke, satellite overpass times and processing interruptions can hide activity. Near-real-time data are provisional.
